We specialize in underground utility installation using trenching, directional drilling, and advanced excavation. We are looking for experienced field professionals who are as comfortable behind the controls of equipment like skid steers mini-excavators and working installing underground utilities such as underground primary and secondary electrical, water mains, force mains, sewer, telecom, and gas lines. They are supporting the main crew on the ground.

This position will require occasional regional travel (typically within 2-3 hours of Huntsville)
Position Details & Benefits

• 
  Starting Pay: $23$25/hour (Depending on documented experience).
• Performance Review: Opportunity for a pay increase after 30 days based on field performance and reliability.
• Schedule: MondayFriday, typically 6:30 AM to 3:004:30 PM.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

• 
  Specific Utility Experience: Proven history installing underground primary and secondary electrical, water mains, force mains, sewer, telecom, and gas lines.
• Excavation Mastery: Minimum 2 years of experience operating mini-excavators or standard excavators specifically for utility excavations / trenching and digging around "live" lines.
• Preferred Skills: Candidates with Directional Drilling experience (operating or locating) will be given top priority.
• Mobilization Skills: Must be proficient in loading/unloading heavy equipment and safely driving/maneuvering trailers.
• Ground Skills: Proficiency with demosaws, jumping jacks, and plate compactors when not operating machinery.
• Licensing & Compliance: Valid Drivers License is REQUIRED and you must be insurable. Must pass a DOT-standard drug test and provide a verifiable work history.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Precision Operation: Efficiently operate excavators to dig trenches, set structures, and backfill while maintaining a safe environment.
• Drilling & Installation Support: Assist the main crew with all aspects of underground utility work, from site prep to final restoration.
• Potholing: Execute hand-digging and hydrovac support to expose existing utilities without damage.
• Logistics: Responsible for the safe loading, securing, and transport of machinery and materials to and from job sites.
• Equipment Care: Perform basic daily maintenance checks (fluids, grease, tracks, tire pressure) on assigned machinery and trailers.

Physical Requirements

• 
  Ability to lift and handle heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds .
• Ability to work outdoors in all Alabama weather conditions.
• Must be able to climb in and out of trenches and machinery throughout the shift.
