Meatcutter Supervisor

The primary purpose of the Meatcutter Supervisor is to serve as the supervisor for the meat department in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. Please read the entire announcement before starting the application process.

Plans, organizes, and directs the meat department operations

Supervises and provides direction to subordinate employees within the department

Ensures workload requirements are met to include establishing prices for all meat products sold

Inspects equipment and checks temperature level regularly

Conducts frequent inspections of work areas to ensure regulatory compliance with sanitary and safety policies

Maintains production records and reports

Be a U.S. citizen or national. Applicants with a Permanent Resident Card are authorized to live and work in the U.S. but are not eligible for employment in positions requiring U.S. citizenship. If selected, proof of citizenship may be required.

Direct deposit of pay is required.

May be subject to one year supervisory probationary period.

Processing beef, pork, veal and lamb into varying types and size of steaks and roasts to include special order crown roast into retail and ready to eat cuts.

Using tools common to the trade to include handsaws, bone dusters, electric saws, meat tenderizers, slicers, and grinders.

Leading and instructing subordinates in specific tasks and job techniques.

Monitoring employees work schedule, performance, conduct and training needs.

Walking and standing continuously while working. Frequently lifts, pushes, and pulls boxes of primal or sub primal meat weighing 25 pounds or more.

Technical Practice

Works in areas where the temperature does not exceed 50 degrees Fahrenheit; Occasionally exposed to temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Cold weather clothing, protective equipment, and special clothes (meal mesh apron, gloves, safety shoes, etc) are provided. Subject to cuts and injuries from knives, power cutting saws and blades, and danger of falling on wet, slippery floors.
