Controls Technician I
Montgomery, AL
12 Months Contract
- Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protection and control systems. These systems are used to monitor protection systems in power substations.
- Technicians must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles as well as computer skills.
- They use this knowledge to install, repair, and maintain protection and control systems that may include microprocessor relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, pumps, motors, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying and associated devices
- Perform calibration of various types of protection and control relays and devices
- Assist in creating and maintaining protection and control documentation
- Assist assigned project lead with field assignments
- Install, program, and maintain protection and control relays and devices
- Participate in process hazard analyses
- Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred
- 0-3 years experience in a controls technician or similar role
- Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs
- Experience with AC and DC system
