Position Overview
The Engineering Consultant II supports Celerity’s project teams by applying engineering expertise to data, drawings, and client projects with greater independence and responsibility than the entry-level role. In addition to reviewing documentation, validating data, and supporting engineering analysis, this position is responsible for performing quality control, preparing engineering deliverables, and collaborating directly with clients and project leads. The Engineering Consultant II may also contribute to developing best practices, process improvements, and training materials for project teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review engineering documents, drawings, and specifications to identify key information for analysis.
  • Verify data on underground and overhead electric system structures, including components, configurations, and documentation supporting current asset conditions.
  • Perform searches and data validation using client platforms such as GIS, SAP, and document repositories.
  • Conduct intermediate GIS functions such as querying geodatabases, preparing maps or exhibits, and extracting data for analysis.
  • Perform quality control (QC) and final review checks for asset inventories, engineering drawings, or other engineering reviews.
  • Prepare and revise project drafts to As-Built or Completion Sets using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Provide mark-ups and redlines on engineering documents in accordance with client and project specifications.
  • Assist lead engineers or CAD managers in creating construction documents, reports, and project deliverables.
  • Perform engineering design tasks and calculations under supervision of a licensed engineer or project manager.
  • Collaborate with project leads to develop training materials, process documentation, and best practice guides.
  • Maintain project tracking logs and coordination tools, including status updates, challenges, schedules, and completion milestones.
  • Engage directly with clients, as needed, to communicate findings, resolve issues, and ensure alignment on deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR
    • Master’s degree in Engineering or closely related field with 1+ year of relevant experience; OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in a non-engineering field with 3+ years of relevant engineering-related experience; OR
    • Associate’s degree or trade certificate in engineering with 5+ years of experience in related fields such as civil, mechanical, utility, GIS, mapping, surveying, construction, or estimating.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation (experience with utility assets/infrastructure a plus).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for QC and final review of asset inventories, engineering drawings, or other engineering reviews.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (AutoCAD or MicroStation), GIS, and/or SAP systems strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with performing and documenting engineering design and calculations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an open, team-based environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical findings to both internal staff and clients.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time.
  • Ability to operate a computer, scanner, copier, and related office equipment on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and clients to exchange accurate project information.
  • Ability to move and/or carry boxes up to 40 pounds with or without assistance.

The salary range for this position is provided in good faith and is subject to variation based on geographic location, candidate experience, and market conditions. Final compensation will be determined after a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s qualifications and alignment with the role.
