Job Title: Landfill Gas Technician
Job Description
The Landfill Gas Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining landfill gas collection and control systems to ensure environmental compliance and optimal performance. This role involves inspecting wells, blowers, and flares; adjusting system settings; performing preventive and corrective maintenance; collecting compliance data; and troubleshooting issues to minimize emissions and odors. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Responsibilities
+ Perform various maintenance and repair tasks for Gas Collection & Control System (GCCS) on various landfills and project sites, including pump repair and well maintenance.
+ Conduct field monitoring of landfill gas wells and systems as required.
+ Maintain monitoring equipment and report any problems or issues to Specialists, Program Manager, or Technical Director.
+ Communicate with on-site staff to perform work and report field issues found during monitoring activities.
+ Provide assistance to Specialists, Program Manager, or Technical Director as needed.
+ Perform labor for piping and O&M projects as assigned.
+ Assist in performing construction tasks such as well raising.
+ Complete flare maintenance activities and learn control systems.
+ Adjust and tune wells using an Elkins Envision gas meter, which involves a significant amount of walking.
+ Conduct surface scanning using a methane analyzer.
+ Track data from the field using an iPad or MESA tablet and enter it into Excel sheets weekly.
+ Assist with pipe fusion and laying HDPE pipe for wells.
+ Assist with pump maintenance and service.
+ Follow all company safety procedures.
Essential Skills
+ 1+ years of experience in the field, sciences, or environmental background.
+ Safety-oriented, especially when working around methane gas on a landfill.
+ Experience with Excel, report writing, or data management.
+ Valid Georgia Driver's License.
+ Ability to move and lift 50 pounds.
+ Experience with methane analyzers and gas meters is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Former military experience is a plus.
+ Experience with excavators, skid steers, or bobcats is beneficial but not required.
+ Safety certifications such as HAZWOPER and confined space entry are advantageous.
Work Environment
The role is typically based on-site, outdoors, and involves walking extensively to monitor wells. Workdays are generally Monday to Friday. The position may require travel during the week to various landfill sites within GA, AL, TN, FL, KY, and SC. Technicians will be provided with a company vehicle. The work environment involves working in well fields, handling odors, and getting dirty. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
