Surg Tech CVOR - Travel Job
Join our team as a Certified CVOR Surgical Technologist in Montgomery, AL, supporting cardiac surgical services in a hospital setting. You will function as a member of the cardiac team, assisting physicians and nurses in the operating room during procedures. You will ensure patient safety by preparing the operating room, sterilizing equipment, and providing intraoperative support for complex cardiovascular cases.
Minimum Requirements:
- Certification from a program accredited by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent formal CVOR surgical technologist credential.
- BLS certification required. Certification preferred but not required should be noted by the client as preferred; BLS is required per facility notes.
- 2-3 years of CVOR experience in a cardiac surgical environment. Candidate must have experience with open heart procedures including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy, VATS, and ECMO cases as applicable.
- Experience working in a trauma center or hospital operating room environment. Facility operates a Level II trauma center and Level III NICU; experience in acute care OR preferred.
- Experience with Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors preferred.
- Ability to function in a 1:1 patient ratio for CVOR cases and to participate in unit orientation including buddy call during orientation period.
- Will accept first-time travelers with at least 2-3 years of relevant CVOR experience.
- Preferred: prior experience in a facility with dedicated cardiovascular rooms and primary stroke center workflows.
Assignment Details:
- Facility type: Hospital.
- Shift: Days.
- Shift pattern: 4x10.
- Shift hours: 0600-1600.
- Duration: 13 week travel assignment.
- Patient types: Open heart, CABG, TAVR, AVR, MVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, VATS, ECMO.
- Orientation: Two-week orientation on day shift with expected buddy call during orientation.
- On-call expectations: Weekend rotation on call; approximately 10-12 on-call days per month. Holiday coverage required per contract.
- Floating: No floating to other facilities required.
