Job Overview
Upton Investments is seeking a full time Facilities Maintenance Technician to be part of the team responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of three commercial office buildings in the 5-Points area. This position ensures that all building systems operate efficiently, service requests are completed promptly, and tenants have a safe, functional, and comfortable environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance tasks (e.g. changing light bulbs, minor repairs, exterior upkeep, etc.)
- Change furnace and air conditioner filters and belts; oil furnace and air conditioner motors quarterly
- Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and other building systems
- Perform major and minor remodeling tasks, including painting walls and basic commercial carpentry
- Performs masonry and plumbing repairs as needed
- Support after-hours building needs and activities as required
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years’ experience in construction or maintenance of commercial property preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic math and communication skills
- Working knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing systems maintenance and repair
- Basic commercial carpentry skills and knowledge of tools, materials, and methods used in construction/repair
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Professional demeanor and good communication skills when interacting with tenants
Work will be performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and includes standing, bending, climbing ladders, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
