Pastry Cook - Full-Time

Title: Pastry Cook
Reports to: Executive Pastry Chef
Overview:
The Pastry Cook prepares all baked goods and desserts and makes sure servers deliver each dish to customers in a timely manner . The Pastry Cook is responsible for that station's workflow and getting the prep list completed in a timely and efficient manner, as well as plated desserts and orders out to guests on time. They oversee the baking process from start to finish and determine how much time each step requires. The Pastry Cook must be organized and self-motivated to uphold the high standards set in place by coworkers and management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sets up ala carte and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
- Prepares bakery items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and kneading.
- Prepares food items by using the ovens and stovetop, as well as the large bakery mixer, ice cream maker, and other small kitchen appliances.
- Follow recipes and instructions per Executive Pastry Chef and uphold high standards set.
- Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage.
- Store product in containers with visible label and consolidate if possible.
- Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces at the end of the shift.

• Basic written and verbal communication skills

• Follows directions and instructions.
• Physical strength and stamina to spend long hours standing and performing repetitive motions.
• Flexibility, since hours for a line cook may vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- One to two years of experience as a baker, pastry cook, or pastry apprentice.
- Certificate in Culinary/Pastry Arts preferred.
- Experience with various baking methods and procedures
- Familiar with industry best practices
Qualities Preferred:
· Good with people
· Approachable by staff and members
· Team player that will be able to help at other properties if needed for the growth of the whole company of Russell Lands
